Droppin the Pots
91x91, acrylic, oil pastel, paint pen on canvas, framed in Native Mahogany
Long evenings on the water with Dad. Dropping the pots at sunset on the East Coast of Tasmania, waiting in the dark and the cold, cracking crayfish and cracking up. Green James Boag's beer, beads, the particular joy of unhurried time with someone you love. Through my memory mapping process, I extracted the symbols that hold this memory the orange of the crayfish, the deep teal of dusk water, the warmth of a family ritual repeated so many times it became a kind of language. It was never really about the crayfish. This original has found its home.
