Beach Combing
50x50cm, acrylic, oil pastel, paint pen on canvas, framed in Native Mahogany
Someone shared a memory of beachcombing that had stayed with them for years, a day spent wandering the shoreline, never knowing what treasure the next wave might reveal. The excitement of spotting sea glass amongst the sand, discovering weathered bottles washed ashore, finding fragments of delicate white china, and collecting tiny pieces of a story carried by the ocean.
Through my memory mapping process, I distilled the symbols that held this moment: sea glass, treasured finds, shifting tides, and the vibrant colours that seem to exist only at the water's edge. This painting is a celebration of curiosity, nostalgia, and the simple joy of searching for hidden treasures along the coast.
